For the past couple of months, my husband and I have been looking for the perfect Austin new homesnew homes. We are at great points in our careers and we are looking to start a family sooner rather than later. One problem that we are facing is our difference in taste. He wants to buy an older home because he believes they have more character and they were built with better materials. I am opposed to this and am only interested in new homes. I like the idea of being able to put your own imprint on it and everything inside will not be broken and worn out.
My parents purchased an older home when I was in college and they spent countless hours working on it. That is not something that I am interested in. Once I find a home, I want to be able to sit down, breathe in my environment and have a glass of wine. Basically, I am not willing to do any major renovations. I am also not fond of the style of homes that are older. The sleek, contemporary look is more my speed. I am not sure how we are going to come to a compromise.
